Delete duplicate photos from iCloud

What is Apple iCloud?

Apple iCloud is a cloud storage service from Apple Inc. that allows users to store data such as photos, documents, and music on remote servers for download to iOS, macOS or Windows devices. iCloud also provides a platform for Apple's email service, and other online services such as backup, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, reminders, notes, and web apps.

Apple provides everyone with 5GB of storage for free but if you need more space, you can upgrade to iCloud+ which starts at $0.99 per month for 50GB of space and additional features.

If you are looking to reduce subscription expenses, one way to do that is delete duplicate photos or other old files you no longer want to keep.

Delete photos from iCloud

Unfortunately, Apple does not have an iCloud API that we can integrate with. However, we are still able to help detect duplicate photos so you can remove them and get storage back.

  • Download and install the Delete Duplicate Photos app for your computer
  • Open the Delete Duplicate Photos app on your computer
  • Click on iCloud and login with your Apple account
  • Click on Scan to begin the process of detecting duplicate photos. We will automatically direct you to iCloud Photos
  • We will scroll this page for you slowly, detecting duplicate photos along the way
  • You’ll see duplicate matches and an option to delete
  • Tap Delete to delete duplicate photos which will bring you to the photo details to delete it there
  • The deleted photos will automatically be removed from all your devices

We do not automatically delete the photo for you, you need to do this yourself.

If you accidentally deleted a photo you want to keep, no need to worry. You can recover these deleted photos within a certain time frame by logging into iCloud and un-deleting the photos from the trash.
